COMPARED BENEFITS OF A COMPOSITE SOLUTION WITH A TRADITIONAL ONE

Anti-corrosion / Hydrostatic pressure resistance / Absence of styrene

A composite material structure which is only strained in the reinforcement direction (fiber) is theoretically one-to-six-times lighter than another made of metal alloys. In reality, due to the execution of the joints between the parts and the multi-directional reinforcement, the practical gain weight is reduced to a few ten percents (up to -45%), which remains very beneficial for applications in which this factor is important (aeronautics, energy, transports, technical masts… etc).

  • Sustainability / anti-corrosion / fatigue resistance : composite materials provide an excellent lifespan thanks to their fatigue resistance (2 to 3 times superior to the one of aluminium alloys or high-resistance steel and titanium alloys). Nevertheless, beware of shocks and compression stress.
  • Simultaneous conception of the ”material” and the ”structure” : reduction in the number of parts – integration of technical functions in the structure – cost reduction and quality increase.
  • Mechanically polyvalent technical tube : mechanical hold justification using finite element calculation. A composite part allows to face many loading situations (bending, twisting, internal pressure… etc). Its great internal/external pressure resistance remains its main characteristic.
